First let me share with you my history with hemorrhoids.  I don’t know how most people get them but I clearly remember the first time I felt the burn.  I was in college, junior year, and I had gone out with the guys the night before.  Drank a bunch of beer and a ton of pizza and breadsticks.  I remember sitting on the toilet for a long time just clearing my system.  Now every so often I’d feel a little burn after drinking a lot the night before, but not like this.  I seriously thought someone had stuck a match up inside me.  I remember biting my lip as I was wiping it hurt so bad.  I wasn’t able to sit for a few hours after that and I remember feeling like my ass was throbbing from the inside.  Luckily it went away and by the next day the pain was gone and I pretty much forgot about it. 

A few years later I was at a wedding with my girlfriend and again, drinking heavily.  The next morning I felt a similar burn (not as bad) but when I wiped it felt weird.  I looked at the toilet paper and it was painted bright red.  Boy did I freak.  All I knew is I remembered hearing that if you ever see blood in your stool that its a problem.  I went to the doctor the next day and he did the old "spread em" test and told me I had some hemorrhoids.  At first I was relieved but over time they kept getting irritated when I would go to the bathroom.  I read up on it and started to make sure that I drank enough water, tried to get more fiber, didn’t strain, and so on.  All the things they tell you to do.

Now this helped for year and i was able to control most of the symptoms.  I would have an episode every so often where I ate bad for a while, or strained too hard, or didn’t drink enough water.  Over time though that started happening more and more.  Then in my early 30’s my first sone was born (2nd one soon after) and I started to be more active and sit and play with them and found the pain and discomfort happening more and more and it was really starting to become a pain in the butt. 

I started researching like crazy to figure out what I could do.  I talked to my doctor and got some of those wipes, some cream, all the things that supposedly worked.  Yeah, didn’t do much for me at all.  We talked about surgery, but no offense I don’t want anybody lasering or freezing things inside my butt unless I can help it.  I then came across one of those alternative health sites that recommended a "natural" cure for hemorrhoids.  I was pretty skeptical.  Up until that point I was definitely a product of western medicine.  Pop this pill for that, pop this pil for that.  You know the drill.  But I thought, hey I’ve got nothing to lose.

I was totally blown away with the guide that I found.  Not only was it easy to read, it didn’t feel all medical to me.  The information was a lot of common sense and some unique methods that I hadn’t found online before.  I started to make the changes suggested in the book and implement some of the solutions outlined and within 2 months my pain and discomfort had almost completely disappeared. 

It’s now almost 2 years later and I’ve had 1 episode and that was after a pizza marathon wth my brother.  I can’t say how much this has helped me lead a happier life and do the things I want and need to do with my family without letting the hemorrhoids get the better of me.
